The 2024 Tampa Bay Rays and 2024 Houston Astros have put the finishing touches on a blockbuster trade.
THE 2024 TAMPA BAY RAYS ACQUIRE:

CHAS MCCORMICK - CF
Chas McCormick is a right-handed hitter drafted in the 21st round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur draft. He's only in his first year of arbitration, and is coming off a four-win breakout season. Despite rightful suspicion his 133 wRC+ was thanks to cheating, we also do cheating. With his solid CF defense, Chas is a welcome addition to our club.

WILL WAGNER - IF
Little Willie Wagner is a left-handed hitter drafted in the 18th round of the 2021 MLB June Amateur draft. Little Willie Bangs. He's a good addition for our club's depth, which we're sort of but not really depleting right now (because our depth just sucks.) Will will begin his season in AAA and we will try to work him into the MLB lineup when the time is right.

ALIMBER SANTA - RP
Name something better than sex. Common answers include: Froot Loops, getting your back scratched REALLY good, and a nice tall glass of TROPICANA ORANGE JUICE. But the best thing that's better than sex of all is when you get a guy whose name rocks ("A Limber Santa") and he's also legit. That's Alimber Santa. Better than sex.
THE 2024 CHICAGO CUBS ACQUIRE:

TAJ BRADLEY - SP
Maybe it's too soon to cut ties with Taj Bradley. Despite struggling to the tune of a 5.59 ERA/4.79 FIP in his first 104.2 IP, he still sports the tools that carried him to top prospect status—an 11.09 K/9, 112 Stuff+, and three above-average pitches. But his struggles at higher levels are troubling, and he doesn't mesh well with our pitching strategy (pipe 'em down the middle).

AUSTIN SHENTON - 1B/3B
Whatever you think of Austin Shenton, we fill that it should be similar to what you feel about Little Willie Wagner plus just a little bit more confidence. Shenton is a banger for sure, and it hurts to see him go. Perhaps the hardest part of bidding fareweel is that, as a former Mariners prospect, there's a higher chance of 4-win Austin.

COLIN POCHE - RP
We believe in COLIN more than popular projections systems, and it seems the industry does as well. However he's a relief pitch in arb-2 and Chas is a reliably elite center fielder in arb-1. You do the math. If Poche can repeat his 2023 he's likely to be the piece we'll miss the most—but it seems likely that he regresses to a decent but not flashy middle relief arm.

ADRIAN SANTANA - SS
We'll be totally honest here—we didn't know who this was and just found out he was our 31st overall pick in the 2023 MLB June Amateur Draft. We're really bailing on that first round hey? So on the flip side, uh... maybe you're better off dishing your fringe t100 teens who haven't played yet except for cruddy FCL appearances than the ones closer to the MLB?

COLTON LEDBETTER - OF
Oh god DAMN IT! Ledbetter was also a 2023 MLB June Amateur Draft pick?! We've now traded away our three highest picks of the draft.
Well shit.
Stay tuned for more 2024 Tampa Bay Rays news!
